StratusGroup is among the first North American converters to install the HP WS6000 Digital Press to provide faster, flashier labels and packaging to dynamic pharmaceutical, beauty, beverage and food markets.

As the consumer products marketplace becomes more competitive, brand owners have an increasing need for flexibility and agility in the production of labels and packaging. The demand for more short-to-medium run lengths jobs is fueled by multiple trends:

  • Quick-changing consumer preferences require newer products and “stand-out” labeling.
  • In a dynamic marketplace, brand owners expect faster time-to-market.
  • New product versions (SKUs) are introduced more frequently and in smaller quantities.
  • Increased customer targeting, faster changes, and late stage differentiation have become a competitive advantage.

Michael Ferrari, associate director, corporate research and development at Procter & Gamble refers to the HP Indigo WS6000 as a “real game changing technology… With frequent artwork changes and high Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) complexity, this digital technology can dramatically reduce the speed to market for labels and other printed packaging materials.”

As more label and packaging converting work goes digital, companies like P&G can enhance the consumer experience by efficiently bringing a greater variety of designs to store shelves, ensuring that more consumers are aware of a given product's benefits and qualities.
